Get set for the UAE's Marathon sporting weekend
The weekend is almost upon us and with an extra day away from the office you might be wondering how you are going to fill your free time.
But fear not, as we may just hold the answer! With so much going on in the UAE over the next few days, there is no excuse not to get out into the sun (or early morning fog, as it seems…) and get involved.
Take in the Marathon atmosphere, spend the weekend with a tennis legend, or head to the world’s largest waterpark, whatever you choose to do, the Emirates is jam-packed with action weekend.
So as you weigh up your weekend options, here are five sports-related events for you to ponder.
Runners, take your marks!
The 2013 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon takes place on Friday and with around 20,000 participants set to take to the Dubai streets, expect road blockages, diversions and traffic.
But instead of letting it disrupt your day, embrace it and become part of this brilliant annual event. From professional runners to those raising money for a good cause, the Dubai Marathon features people of all speed, shape, and sizes. So head down to the Burj Khalifa to show your support and get swept up by the feel-good atmosphere.

The Pro League returns
Considering there has been a four-week winter break and in that time the UAE went and won the Gulf Cup to whip the nation up into a frenzy, you would be forgiven for forgetting that there is in fact a local football league here in the Emirates.
The UAE’s Gulf Cup success has everyone talking about local football so there is no better time than this weekend to head down to your nearest stadium to catch some live action.
If you’ve never been before, then let me tell you; it is great fun with plenty of attacking football and loads of goals. The match of the week will surely be seen in Abu Dhabi as Al Jazira host fellow title contenders Al Ahli.

It’s the Australian Open finals weekend on Friday and Saturday, but instead of lounging around the house and watching the tennis on television, head to Meydan to have a knockabout with former world No14 Younes El Aynaoui and watch the matches down at the Tennis 360 Academy.
A couple of the Sport360 crew will be heading down there to play and hang out with Younes, so come and join us!
