BATE Borisov midfielder Aleksander Hleb believes Arsene Wenger is a better coach than Pep Guardiola having played under both coaches at Arsenal and Barcelona respectively.

Hleb spent three years at the Gunners under Wenger before moving to the Camp Nou to work under Guardiola, but much of his time at Barca was spent on-loan at various clubs after failing to cement a place in the first-team.

And the Belarus international has taken somewhat of a swipe at former Barca coach Guardiola by claiming Wenger is a better coach, while failing to name the Spaniard among the top coaches in the world.

"I learned more from Wenger than Guardiola, but Pep is a good coach," the 31-year-old toldEsports en Xarxa.

"Guardiola is not the best coach in the world because he coached the best team in the world, with the best players, and that's why he won.

"It's hard not to win with a team like that and [Tito] Vilanova will have the greatest success.

"The best coaches in the world are [Jose] Mourinho, [Sir Alex] Ferguson and [Arsene] Wenger.”

Hleb revealed how he was keen to leave Barca after not receiving enough game time, but admitted he did not deal with the situation very professionally.

"I was very ambitious and wanted to play more but Barca played each player for a certain amount of minutes,” he added.

"For me, that was not enough. I was angry and wanted more, which was why we had some conflicts with Guardiola, but now I understand it was the nonsense and tantrums of a little boy."
