Edin Dzeko insists he has no intention of quitting Manchester City this summer despite the club's attempts to sign wantaway Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

City have asked the Gunners to be kept informed on van Persie's future after the Dutchman made it clear earlier this month that he wanted to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

City's rivals Manchester United and Juventus have already had bids rejected for last season's Premier League top scorer, with Arsenal holding out for £20million (Dh120m).

Dzeko's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months having failed to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium, and his chances of regular first-time football would be dimished further should City succeed in the race to sign van Persie.

Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Juventus have been linked with the former Wolfsburg man, who only joined City 18 months ago, while an agent claiming to represent the Bosnian said a deal to take him to the San Siro was 70 per cent done.

City denied the claims and Dzeko himself has reiterated his desire to remain at the club and fight for his place in the side. “I have not spoken with AC Milan. I will focus entirely on this club," he said.

Meanwhile, there was some cheer for City fans on Friday night as City finally secured their first win of pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Turkish giants Besiktas.

Having lost 1-0 to Al Hilal and then drawn 0-0 with German second-tier club Dynamo Dresden, City broke their pre-season duck thanks to goals in either half from Argentina international Sergio Aguero and Belgian captain Vincent Kompany.
