David Silva has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City and has spoken of his desire to build on their Premier League title and win even more trophies.

After opening the scoring during Spain’s Euro 2012 victory over Italy, Silva said: “I want to have my vacation because it has been a long, hard season for me.

“But once I go back to City, I know I will be fully refreshed because I want to win more trophies with them. The owners of the club have spent a lot of money bringing good players to the club.

“We have already started to win titles, including the Premier League. Now I hope to show we have the quality to do something in the Champions League.”

Silva had caught the attention of Real Madrid but his club slapped an £80million price tag on the midfielder. Madrid are on the hunt for a new midfielder and Jose Mourinho was believed to have ex-Valancia man Silva was on their shortlist.

Roberto Mancini will be pleased to hear Silva’s pledge to the Manchester City cause. The Spaniard has become a key member of the team at the Etihad Stadium and Mancini is trying to tie his star man to the club with a contract offer until 2016.
