Amadeus and Etihad launch new cricket tournament
Employees and members of the travel, tourism and airline industry in the UAE and Oman will compete in the first ever Amadeus Gulf CricEntertainment.
The two-day tournament is being organised by Amadeus Gulf in collaboration with Etihad Airways. The event, which kicks off on January 18 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, will see eight corporate teams compete for trophies, cash prizes and airline tickets.
Graham Nichols, managing director of Amadeus Gulf, said: “One of the main brand strategies for Amadeus worldwide this year, and one of the reasons we are doing this event, is based on something called ‘humanisation’.
“It’s about not being some kind of faceless technology company and actually having a human interaction with our customers and really getting to know them well.
“Cricket actually fits quite well with that, all the emotions are there in cricket about success and failure and annoyance with the umpire, and luck. I think cricket’s quite a good representation of that theme and therefore we chose it.”
Qualifiers will be held on Friday, January 18, with two semi-final rounds marked for Friday, January 25, followed by the grand final the same evening.
